00:12

hey guys what's up and Nikhil you did

00:15

Pat instructor and in this After Effects

00:17

tutorial I'm gonna show you guys how to

00:19

create this really cool-looking 3d text

00:21

animation in After Effects using

00:23

Stardust so without any further ado

00:26

let's get straight into After Effects

00:28

and get started alright so here we are

00:30

in After Effects so let's start by

00:32

creating a new composition and let's

00:34

rename this to main cause this is gonna

00:36

be our main composition 1920 into 1080

00:39

30 frames looks good and 10 seconds

00:41

should be good enough so hit OK so here

00:44

we have our main composition let's make

00:47

some room right over here just so we can

00:49

see all the panels and to get this

00:53

tardis panel you can go into windows and

00:55

click on this icon that is that says

00:57

stardust so you can get this panel just

01:00

like that so let's start by creating a

01:02

new solid so hit control Y on the

01:05

keyboard to create a new solid and let's

01:07

rename this to BG for background hit OK

01:11

let's create one more solid by hitting

01:12

ctrl Y and let's call this Stardust hit

01:20

OK and then I'm gonna select the text

01:23

tool and type in text that I want to use

01:25

now you can of course type in any text

01:27

that you want I'm just gonna type in the

01:29

text that I use for the example so I'm

01:31

gonna type in fusion Network there we go

01:37

let's align this in the center and then

01:41

what I'm going to do is I'm going to

01:42

select the second text that is the

01:44

network and let's bring down the size of

01:46

the text to 150 pixels and that is

01:49

looking pretty good to me so let's align

01:53

this to the center yup let's hide this

01:56

we don't need to see it and let's select

01:58

the star does solid layer and add the

02:00

status effect to this

02:03

and basically Stardust emit particles it

02:06

is a plugin that will help us to create

02:08

some really nice 3d geometries into

02:10

After Effects so if I create a new

02:12

camera a quick just to show you guys and

02:15

switch into my camera view you can see

02:17

we have this really nice 3d particles

02:19

which we can use it in different number

02:22

of ways to create some really nice and

02:23

advanced looking animation so for now

02:26

I'm just gonna delete the camera and

02:28

let's focus on creating our animation so

02:31

the first thing that I'm gonna do is

02:32

select the emitter and let's change some

02:34

settings so let's change the emitter

02:36

type from point to text cause that that

02:39

is what we will be using for our

02:40

animation and let's go into the path

02:43

properties and set the text mass m8 type

02:46

to edge also I'm going to bring down the

02:49

speed to 5 so now as you can see we

02:53

can't see anything cause we need to

02:55

change the layer properties so set the

02:59

layer to the text layer that is the

03:00

fusion Network and now you can see the

03:03

particles are getting emitted through

03:04

our text pretty cool and that is all we

03:08

need to do into the emitter setting so

03:10

let's go into the particle section let's

03:13

go into particle properties and bring

03:15

down the particle size to 3 so they are

03:19

really small and nice okay I think that

03:21

is all for the particles so let's close

03:24

this particle properties for now and

03:26

let's add an auxilary property to

03:27

animate the lines so let's I'm gonna

03:30

drop in an auxilary property and attach

03:32

it to the particles also I'm gonna bring

03:35

down the speed of the auxilary to zero

03:40

and that is all we need to do and let's

03:44

create one more particle option for the

03:47

auxilary and let's attach it to the

03:49

auxilary now you have something like

03:52

that as you can see not looking that

03:55

good at the moment but now what I'm

03:58

going to do is I'm gonna bring down the

04:00

particles size to 1 so we have something

04:06

like that and let's go into the emitter

04:08

alright so now what I will do is let's

04:10

go into the path properties of the

04:12

emitter

04:15

and let's increase the speed along the

04:18

path to 15 and randomness

04:22

I'll give it five so now as you can see

04:25

the particles are moving along the path

04:26

of our text so now we can attach this

04:29

particle section to the auxilary and now

04:31

we should have this really cool look now

04:34

auxilary works a bit heavy on the system

04:37

because it's emitting a lot of particles

04:40

so it's gonna be a bit heavy to the

04:42

system looking pretty cool so now what I

04:45

can do is pretty quickly let's go into

04:47

the particle section and let's give it a

04:49

really nice color so I'm gonna go into

04:50

particle properties and change the

04:53

particle color type from solid color to

04:56

a really nice random from gradient and

04:59

let's go into the color gradient section

05:03

and we can select from a number of

05:05

different presets that we have or you

05:06

can use your own color that you want so

05:09

I'm going to use this color 10 preset

05:10

which I think looks pretty good so I'm

05:13

gonna use this one and same for this

05:15

particles I'm gonna use the same color

05:17

preset so let's set the particle color

05:19

to random from gradient and color

05:22

gradient presets and select the color 10

05:25

hit apply and as you can see right now

05:29

when the particle starts we have this

05:31

really nice mall looking dots so in case

05:34

if you don't want this kind dots you can

05:36

hide this particle section just like

05:38

that so we kick just so you just get the

05:40

lines but I think it looks more cool

05:43

with the dots at the beginning so I'm

05:45

gonna just keep it on an yup this is

05:47

looking pretty cool you can also go into

05:49

the emitter and play around with the

05:52

size of Z so right now it's set 200 you

05:54

can set this to maybe I'm gonna go with

05:56

75 something like that and it's being

06:00

pretty cool so let's go ahead and create

06:03

a new camera and 50 millimeters looks

06:06

good here okay let's create a new null

06:10

object and let's rename this to cam

06:13

control cause this is gonna be the

06:15

controller for our camera also make sure

06:20

to make it 3d and perón the camera to

06:23

the null object just like that alright

06:26

so what I'm going to do is I'm gonna hit

06:28

R to bring down

06:29

datian properties go right over here and

06:32

let's make a rotate the Y rotation to

06:36

around 60 degrees just like so let's go

06:40

at the very beginning create a keyframe

06:42

and go to maybe let's go with four

06:44

seconds maybe and let's set the rotation

06:48

to zero so we have a basic rotation

06:53

animation just like so okay so now what

07:01

I'm going to do is let's actually

07:03

syllable key frames and hit f9 Easy's

07:05

those key frames and let's go into the

07:07

camera hit P to bring down the position

07:10

properties and I'm gonna animate the

07:11

position of our text so let's go

07:15

somewhere around there so we can see our

07:16

animation and let's drop the position of

07:20

the z-axis to zero so now we are really

07:24

close to our animation let's create a

07:26

keyframe at the very beginning and I'm

07:29

gonna go to six seconds

07:34

okay and bring this down to around let's

07:38

go to maybe let's start with minus 2500

07:41

or something like that

07:43

let's see yup that is looking good to me

07:47

so just to preview our animation pretty

07:50

quickly I'm going to do a ram preview so

07:54

as you can see this is looking really

07:55

nice let's select the keyframes and hit

07:58

f9 to easy if those keyframes let's go

08:00

into the graph editor and I'm going to

08:02

tweak the handle by just dragging them a

08:04

little bit to the left so that our you

08:08

know ending animation is a bit more

08:10

smoother okay pretty nice

08:15

let's do some really nice depth of field

08:18

for our animation just to make it look

08:20

more organic and realistic so what I'm

08:23

going to do is select the camera and hit

08:24

a two times to bring down the properties

08:26

of depth of field and let's turn this on

08:29

also I'm gonna increase the aperture to

08:32

around 200 and for the blur level I'm

08:35

gonna go to 200 as well for the focus

08:38

distance I'm gonna start really close so

08:41

maybe somewhere around 7:15 let's see

08:43

yeah pretty nice let's go to one second

08:47

and let's see but no clothes so what I'm

08:50

gonna do is at the very beginning I'm

08:51

gonna start from maybe 500 or something

08:54

let's go a few frames forward looking

08:58

good pretty cool yeah so now at 1 second

09:08

and 15 frame I'm gonna create a keyframe

09:11

on the focus distance and bring this

09:12

back to maybe one second and drag this

09:16

keyframe right over let's go back to 1

09:18

second and 15 frames and moved it move

09:22

this a bit forward to let's say maybe

09:24

550 or maybe 600 ok this looks pretty

09:31

good

09:31

let's go to 2 seconds so somewhere

09:37

around then let's increase the focus

09:39

distance to maybe 800 a bit more so

09:44

let's go with 900 okay pretty good maybe

09:49

950 a bit okay this looks perfect to me

09:54

let's go forward more to around let's go

09:58

to maybe 2 second and 15 frames and

10:02

let's bring this up to around 1 1 1,100

10:08

nope let's make this to 1,200 there's no

10:11

specific number you need to you know use

10:13

different numbers to just find that

10:16

perfect spot so I'm just gonna keep on

10:18

no increasing it little by little so

10:21

that we can see what's going on

10:22

maybe 1400 yeah that looks perfect to me

10:28

let's go to 3 seconds let's bring this

10:32

to 1500 but more so I'll go with maybe 1

10:38

6 5 0 perfect let's go to 3 second and

10:45

15 frames let's bring this up to 1800

10:50

but more so I'll go with 1900

10:54

yeah perfect and for the full second

10:57

mark I'm gonna go to let's say train 200

11:05

yeah looking pretty good let's go a bit

11:08

more forward in time so let's go to four

11:12

second and rainy frames and let's bring

11:15

this to you twenty five hundred okay

11:22

pretty nice let's go to five second and

11:26

let's bring this actually it's looking

11:29

pretty good so let's go right up the

11:32

path to six seconds and let's bring this

11:36

two hundred twenty seven hundred so now

11:40

the animation is in focus all the time

11:44

throughout the complete animation

11:45

process

11:49

so now if I pretty quickly ran preview

11:52

this alright so this is looking very

11:57

nice as you can see we get this really

11:59

nice 3d depth of field which makes our

12:03

animation look more interesting so now

12:07

what once we are done with the animation

12:09

let's make our complete project look

12:11

much more interesting so what I'm going

12:12

to do is the first thing is I'm gonna

12:14

add some glow to our animation and to do

12:17

that let's pretty quickly add a glow to

12:20

this and for the moment I'm gonna just

12:25

turn off the depth of field so that we

12:28

can walk a bit more faster so let's

12:33

increase the threshold to around 80 and

12:35

increase the glow radiates to around 150

12:39

job this look very nice let's also

12:42

increase the glow intensity to 1.5

12:46

pretty cool

12:48

maybe I'll go with maybe 1.2 or

12:50

something like that looking very nice

13:00

okay so let's create a new adjustment

13:02

layer and let's add some curves to this

13:07

so I add curves and bring this down a

13:12

little bit just to increase the colors

13:16

and make them more punchy on the

13:19

complete scene pretty nice let's add

13:22

some noise to this just to make it look

13:24

more realistic let's create a new

13:26

adjustment layer so hit ctrl alt + y

13:29

let's rename this to noise and add a

13:34

noise effect to this really minimum

13:37

maybe 2 percent and then let's create a

13:40

new solid so it controlled Y and let's

13:43

rename this to optical flares and let's

13:52

add optical flares to this also change

13:58

the blending mode to screen there we go

14:02

let's go into the options and clear all

14:05

we just need to glow so I'm just going

14:07

to use the glow and hit OK also I'm

14:11

gonna make this 3d so that it interacts

14:15

with our camera let's close this let's

14:19

go to 5 seconds maybe and what I'm going

14:24

to do is select the optical flares and

14:26

position it somewhere around here or

14:31

something like that something like so

14:40

pretty cool and change the color to

14:44

something like a nice nice orange a

14:47

yellow color just like so it's a bit too

14:52

much so I'll bring down the brightness

14:53

around 60 or something yep looking good

14:59

I'm gonna duplicate it so hit ctrl D to

15:02

duplicate it and let's change this to a

15:05

really nice kind of a pinkish red color

15:08

you can use definitely any color that

15:11

you want I'm gonna I'm gonna go with

15:14

something like that

15:16

please somewhere around there really

15:22

nice let's place this one a bit to the

15:27

left just like so pretty cool and also

15:33

if you want to increase or decrease the

15:34

kind of you know the displacement that

15:36

the text have you can go into the

15:38

Stardust and go into the emitter and

15:40

play around with the speech so if I

15:42

increase the speed really high to maybe

15:44

something like 20 the lines are gonna

15:46

get more displays so depending on the

15:49

kind of look that you want to go with

15:50

you can change the speed Summoner just

15:52

set this to five also you can play

15:55

around with the size Z so if I increase

15:57

this to let's say maybe something like

15:59

200 and see we get this really nice

16:02

depth to the scene but for now I'm just

16:05

going to leave it at 75 because I think

16:07

that looks much better

16:11

as you can see all in all the

16:13

composition is looking very nice and

16:15

obviously you can go into the camera and

16:18

turn on the depth of field to get a much

16:21

more nicer result I think is the glow is

16:24

a bit too much so let's go into the glow

16:27

close this up go into the glow and bring

16:31

up the threshold to around 9% yep this

16:36

look much better and for the glorious

16:38

I'm going to bring this down to 120

16:40

pretty nice so let's pretty quickly

16:43

preview our complete animation yep so as

16:49

you can see this is looking very nice

16:50

and interesting and also if you guys get

16:52

a little bit of

16:53

bendings to face that what you can do is

16:55

just switch from 8-bit to 16-bits or

16:58

hold alt and click on this icon so it's

17:00

going to switch to 16-bit which will

17:02

help us to get more natural glows in you

17:05

know terms of color bending so you won't

17:06

you won't get any noise or color

17:08

bendings if you switch to sixteen bits

17:10

per channel so alright so now what I'm

17:13

going to do is let's go let's make some

17:15

room right over here and let's select

17:16

our text let's turn this on and let's go

17:20

to five seconds also make sure to make

17:23

it 3d so let's toggle switch and make it

17:26

3d there we go and now what I'm going to

17:30

do is I'm gonna animate the opacity of

17:32

our text so let's hit two T to bring

17:35

down the opacity create a keyframe let's

17:38

bring this keyframe pack right over here

17:40

and let's bring the opacity down to zero

17:46

there you go

17:48

so now we have a basic opacity imation

17:52

and also what I'm going to do is let's

17:54

go to five seconds again and let's go to

17:58

the Stardust let's go into the emitter

18:01

and let's create a keyframe on the

18:03

particles per second click on page down

18:06

to go one frame forward in time and

18:08

let's set this down to zero so let's go

18:14

a bit forward in time let's see what we

18:16

have pretty cool let's go back to 5

18:19

seconds let's go into this particle

18:21

section and create a keyframe on the

18:24

particles per second go one frame

18:26

forward in time and let's bring this

18:28

down to zero same for this particles

18:32

let's go at five seconds create a

18:36

keyframe go on frame forward and bring

18:38

this down to zero so at the end we just

18:41

have our text so we have this basic and

18:44

simple text animation also I'm gonna go

18:47

to six second and let's just play around

18:50

with the depth of field shamonite just

18:52

the focus distance so let's hit AAA and

18:54

the focus distance I'm gonna actually go

18:58

right over you add the keyframe and

19:00

let's increase it to maybe

19:02

20800 let's see now that is not actually

19:08

what I'm going for

19:10

so let's leave it at 2,600 maybe a bit

19:19

more closer to 500 yeah perfect

19:25

so now we have our text getting revealed

19:28

through the animation so yep that is all

19:32

for today guys I hope this tutorial was

19:34

helpful and I will see you in the next

19:36

one till then take care thank you so

19:38

much
